Welcome to the Department of Health and Human Performance (HHP) at Texas State University. We appreciate your interest in our department and our many high-quality academic, research, and outreach programs. Presently we are one of the largest departments on campus with over 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students studying for degrees in Athletic Training, Exercise and Sports Science/Kinesiology, Public Health, and Recreation. In addition, we offer courses in personal fitness and wellness for students across all majors on campus. Our accomplished faculty focus on providing student-centered learning experiences in all our disciplines, while our outstanding staff is always available to offer assistance.
HHP faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in various areas within athletic training, exercise science, public health, and recreation. Undergraduate and graduate students are a valuable and active part of our research teams and gain experience in our many research laboratories, as well as field-based and community-based research. We are proud to offer numerous experiential learning and outreach programs that allow our students and faculty the opportunity for professional growth, while also helping to meet the needs of our community.
As a student-centered academic department, HHP is committed to advancing Texas State University’s mission as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. Through our teaching, research, and service, HHP promotes improved human performance, health, and quality of life for all.
