Megan “Meg” Haynes – Camp Co-Director

Hometown: Lolita, TX - Industrial High School

Classification: I graduated from Texas State with a B.E.S.S. in Athletic Training in 2007, MEd in 2009, and MS in Athletic Training in 2010.

Did you attend the camp when you were in high school? Unfortunately not. I went to a small school and didn’t know what athletic training was until I came to college.

Why you love Texas State Athletic Training? I came to Texas State in 2003 when I began my undergraduate degree. My first class in athletic training was taught by David Gish, a great friend of mine, and Texas State’s previous Head Athletic Trainer. The information he taught was so exciting to me, and you could tell he loved what he taught.

Luckily, I was able to learn a lot from this man before he lost his battle to cancer. He has impacted many of us that teach and cover sports at Texas State. We are all family and love our profession. We all hope that you will too!

Why you are excited to work camp? I first became involved with the camp when I was in my first year in our program and was asked to be a counselor. I had so much fun teaching students about the things that I love! Since then, I have continued to work camp, teach classes, and am now the Co-Director. I have been involved with camp since 2004.
